Mayawati has won becase of her astute understanding of the voters' mind. She concentrated on crime situation in the State and managed the election signle handedly, her trump card being the Dalit-Brahmin combination, thus weaning away a good percentage of Brahmin votes from BJP. While SP lost due to incumbency factor, BJP's losses were due to utter mismangement, starting from ignoring an astute manager like Arun Jaitely and failing to bring Vajpayee to campaign for the party in early phases.

Chawla ji. BJP only lost because it was riding on a dirty hate agenda. People dont want to listen criticism they want hope and a vision for a future.
