Safety

Some of the concerns, which has hardly got any attention yet (atleast in media and public awareness:
1. Disposal of nuclear waste (Location and methodology) It remains a major concern in most nations using technology and curretn methods use remote dumping in deep underground tunnels specially created for disposal. They are controversial , pose security and health concerns for public who may be unaware of disposal site. No comment on how govt plans to handle disposal of production level waste.

2. Emergency preparedness and treatment facilities in case of a disaster. Knowledge about isolation plans and public awareness of safety. Given the average safety record on many govt run services, these facilties have no tolerance for failure. No talks has yet surfaced about how India deals with these very demanding requirements when we do not have an efficient basic medical response system or planning measures as reserved lanes for emergency crews in our transportation systems. Always remember the Cheronbyl disaster..While these may be dealt on finalization of a deal, a gurantee not to short change these requirements should be made to the public before making any deals or proceeding with nucelar power ambitions.

Guys,
We need this kind of energy resources to sustain our growth. Do you know France how megawatts are generated by France using neuclear power? have you heard about any accident there?
We Indian do not take any initiative and always follow other which leads to many crises like energy crises which we are facing now.
Only Chernobyl has happend till now. We know that there are many casualtities due to Plane accident but did people stopped flying.
Do you kwon how much gree house gases are generated by coal based power plant?
We are always negative. There are N number of Megha Patkar in all areas.
Guys, please note that every thing has pluse and minus, we need to weigh and see that in any project has how many plus and how many minus points are there.

Hope every one understand the gravity of the situation.

we indians are basically risk averse people..a.k.a DARPOK.

can't take any decision. will typically take 10 years to arrive at any decision. to give you a few examples.

1) we cannot decide if we shoudl scrap Arjun Tank Project which was started in 1974 !

2) We cannot decide if we should go ahead with nuclear power or not. wait another 10 years.

3) We cannot make up our mind on how to control population...etc.

you see basically we indians are good at leg pulling ..not strategic thinking...because that's what we learn.
