Many hardliners on this message board are uneducated about the topic of muslim conversions. There were never forceful conversion in India.
Even now Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world...see the latest examples of recent times:
Mohammad Ali the boxer, did he convert to Islam by force?
Cat Stevens did he convert to Islam by force?
Sohaib Webb did he convert to Islam by force?
Hamza yousuf did he convert to Islam by force?
Yousuf Youhanna cricketer did he convert to Islam by force?
How many examples do you want?
If Khilji/Slave/Mughal Dynasty wanted to do forceful conversions it would have been fairly easy for them....don't you think 500 years are NOT enough for any kingdom to forcefully convert all to any religion?
Do some math:
According to people like you, you say now Muslims are 15%
So, 50 years before were they 7% So, 100 years before 2.5% (remember contraception was not common 100 years before)
So 200 years before (1800 AD) Muslims were 0.5%
Go another 100 years back (1700 Aurangzeb)....Muslims were 0.01
Go another 100 years back (1600 Akbar's period) ....Muslims were 0.001%
So do you think great kings of Mughals were able to convert only 0.01 % of the population? Ridiculous.
Bottom line if they want they could have done at least 20% of population to forcefully convert.....by the time of Aurangzeb.....but that never happened....
The main reason of conversion in India happened due to sufi saints of Islam.

Muslim population is growing because every muslim man can marry any number of women. The marriage laws for them and the children they produce use the formula n males * n females (where n is 1 to infinity) whereas for other religions it is 1 male * 1 female
This is the simple logic for muslim growth. I think the person who is reporting this as abuse is also muslim and follows n * n principles lol...

Dear Gentlemen, "fastest growing" cant fit a religion. You speak like soaring market value and booming civil construction sector. A religion is not a product to be marketed and increase the volume. You ppl words clearly tell whats actually there in your minds.
How far you push and do all, the world will move on its own way and islam like religion wont stay with. You all will witness it.

Why rediff is bias and leaning on oneside that is useless? Nothing can stop the voices and happenings of truth, fact and darma. Mighty India once been from the borders of afghan to burma has shrinked to today state. You wont allow outsider into your home but there is absolutely none to safeguard this nation from the intruders.

But HISTORICALLY Islam was introduced forcefully be the Dictators like Taimoor, Gazhi, Auranzeed etc. It was ultimate Blood Shed in India by these animals.

sufi saints did nothing in India but they were just common travelers to glance the mightiness of thatday India. Islam been rooted here now, you like chaps refer those travels like some special trips. Got!

Little commonsense here.
Only British introducted Population sesus in modern India. Then how come in Auranzeeps and Akbars period in communal vise. That too so statistical.
Again if you refuse convertion and any other mode to this huge increase in the percentage of total population then are your ready to accept that reproduction is the main cause?
