though mayawati ahs own on caste calculations only, by bringing brahmins to her fold of dalits plus some muslim votes. muslims probably mostly voted for sp. but by saying that she will support reservation on economic basis (just on becoming cm), she has boldly dismantled the caste barrier.
let us hope for the best. if caste based reservation is removed, casteism will die its natural death. otherwise now a days no one bothers about caste, except marriage, which is quite a private affair.

Instead proposing reservations for upper castes poors, why she does not argue in favor of a reservation system for all poors irrespective of caste or religion.

i don't think that she has said that it is only for poor of upper caste? i thought that it is for all poor.
