What about Brahmins?
by chaitanya kumar on Mar 30, 2007 02:05 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Brahmins never ruled India. You read history of India . There was not a signle brahmin emperor. India was ruled by OBCs, Muslims and British.

Who created caste system? Brahmin never created it. Manu ( an OBC king) created it. All powers were given to OBC kings by the caste system.
Brahmins were sujected to slavery and subjugation by OBC kings. Brahmin were not allowed to particcipate in economy. Even Sudras were allowed to earn money because they were free to work as labours.
Brahmins were fornced to live in temples and their life was totally dependent on donations and begging.
Caste system created by OBCs wanted brahmins to beg and millions of brahmins were starved to death.
There were no hardships were enforced on any other caste but brahmins. Brahmins were not allowed to eat food of their choice. They were forced to observe fast and developed malnutrition. Brahmins were not allowed to keep money. They were forced to live like beggers.

You read the books written by SC/STs. Ramayan was written by Valmik (SC/ST) and Mahabharat was written by Vyas (SC/ST). Ran, Krishan and Vishnu belong to OBC caste and Shiva belong to Sudra caste. Brahma is the only Brahmin God.

There are millions of temples of OBS and Sudra gods but there is only one temple for brahmin god in this world. This itself shows kind of subjugation brahmins have been subjected to.

What happened in Ramayan. An OBC king (Ram) killed a brahmin (Ravan). They called brahmins by a derogatory name called Asuras and killed brahmins.

Whole history of india is filled with unprecendented crimes against brahmins.

Now it is right time brahmin should demand 15% reservation.

Please comment.

well, these days it's difficult to find people who do that job(pujas/homams). Eeverybody want to sit a posh office and dance in bars. That seems to be the fashion of the day. There is no pride in doing that job while Hindu customs are being laughed at and Brahmin is mocked for doing that job in many places and demonically caricatured in cultural expressions like media. But many Brahmins still stick to that profession because of traditional reasons until there are further replacements(like how tribals and others are being skilled to do that job in recent years to bring egalitarianism in Hindu traditions).

and ravana was not entirely a Brahmin. His mother was asura and father was a sage and a Brahmin. In any case, Indian society is mainly patriarchial and Ravana was well-versed in Vedas and other rituals that wezEre necessarily reserved for Brahmins in ancient times.

Do you have a magic potion to fix all problems? face the issues you have, there is no magic that can fix overnight, you must discuss the problems, don't try to run away. I guess you don't live in this country and you have a plan to settle abroad, in that case its easier to give funda.

that was the intention of the post. Stop taking pride in being a backward guy to claim reservations. If it applies to majority and the ones who take in pride of calling themselves OBC, then it applies to everybody and the rest will claim it too, and the nation will be shattered.

If upper caste people who are less than 10% in India do not like reservations or to live with rest of the Indians, we are offering a separate state/nation to them.

Take up our generous offer and brace yourself.

Mr M - looks like you don't have an argument to defend yourself - so, you keep on posting the same post all the time.

No wonder why you are asking Quota.

I do not support reservation for OBCs but, I have to put the caste system in right perspective. There is no denying the fact that the caste system was created by the bramins. There are number of evidences for that and the fact that all the scriptures(holy?)uniformly accorded the highest status to them is one of them.Who could have framed rules that killing a bramin is a sinful activity whereas the same thing is not applicable to shudras.Who says killing a cow is sinful whereas shura's tongue should be cut and boiling lead should be poured into the ears for reading and hearing Vedas? You should first know that all these supposed to be Holy materials like Mahabharata, Ramayana etc. were written during different period and by different people. These were finally codified only during Gupta period. Don't be under illusion that these voluminous novels were written during some fanciful 2000 years BC etc.
Again, there are examples of Brahamin Kings in the country like the Pusyamithra who came after Nandas.Anyway, what is the need to become king when you were the superkings? Except for some noble Kings like Asoka, others were indulging in all things except the welfare of the people.Manmoan may be our PM but, we all know that Sonia is the real power. The same applied to Bramins and the Kings. One needed protection from masses and the other needed divine sanction so that he can rule .
Tamilnadu probably has the most inscriptions in the country but if you read them it is all rubbish. 99% of them narrates how these kings(jokers) donated villages after villages to Brahmins.
I read that the Sethu shipping canal is being objected by BJP and some sadhus in North India in the name of Ram's bridge.Today's news is that 5 indian fishermen were killed by sriLanka navy. But these sadhus do not even blink their eyes for these things, but talk about Ram bridge,Ravan and such useless things.
I write this only to answer some points and anyway, you know that in TN everyone is OBC . As for the Bandhs and resoulutions in this regard, we also need some comedy.

there might have been mistakes made in the past, but the grievances of past should not be used to break the fabric of the culture which will allow predators to invade and change the nature of the society and divide the nation. Everyone had some role to play in this discrimination, and Brahmins must not be entirely blamed for it though they made their significant contributions, others vetoed it it too. If you want to blame Brahmins and few others entirely for it, it only means that some got away for thousands of years and you were sitting like an ostrich while all this was happening. And now people have a voice relative to ancient times to bring their grievances to the table due to the democratic setup of the nation and it should not be misused to create ripple. Reforms should be done and not divisions. Of course, there should be a opposition voice for comprehensive reforms and that should be the way, which should be encouraged. I actually like this dalit movement, but it gets messy when some use it to convert people and change the nature of society and weaken the voices that vouch for traditions that have something good to offer to humanity other than untouchability and dowry practices etc. There was caste-system in all societies of the world though they followed in different ways.
