i hav travelled to every nook and corner of bihar and jharkhand and can only say that all which is written over here is highly glorified. It may be a one of wonder but the reality is very grim. The bihari society is very backward, caste, religion driven and they don't want to work in their state although they may do worst jobs in other places.I thought this reporter was very lucky not to hav got looted and murdered on her way to rajgir.the place where the bimbisara jail is located is highly naxal infested and no guide or local wld dare to take u over there. What cld hav been a very prosperous state is nothing but hell.ask any labour over there. There is also a trend to be seen tht of late the biharis in the media are trying to restore the bihari pride even if it means vested journalism. There is a chance for bihar to reform itself and i hope its ppl wake up soon and as for the government i firmly believe tht people get wht they deserve.
What you are saying may be logical, but my dear friend why can't we consider this as a positive outlook towards Bihar after having loads of criticism that has been bestowed upon us so far. Regards

Mr. Mohak which other states u have visited specially every nook & corner. Where ever is prblm we start criticising the ppl over there. Prblm is not with biharis, prblm is with u guys who dont know the fact. there is no education, empowerment, nothing has been done for the upliftment of ppl over there by Govt, no infrastructure in that region itself. There is no enough food, they have not seen electricity so far forget TV, Radio, & other basic amneties that is why ppl there involve in criminal activities, if they dont go out of that area to earn for there livelihood, it is very easy to pass comment on these ppl sitting in airconditioned office, but if u see the reality, I am sure tears will come in ur eyes. So grow up friend & appreciate any small good thing. Heads up to Rediff. Please show real picture of Bihar, Eastern U.P. Bengal Orissa

Dear Mohak, I would wonder how did u get the kind of sentiments u r vomiting out here. Biharis going out of Bihar (but in their own country) for job - if u consider this as a bad syndrome, then how wud u praise those gujju/punjabis who have flocked US/abroad almost everywhere and are regarded as our own powerful NRIs. Does that mean these punjabis/Gujjus donot want to work in their country? Dude, I bet u dat even u wud flee to US at the first opportunity. wudnt u? but does that make India a wrong/rotten country? And for ur other observation dat bihari society is backward and blah blah blah.. As u claim U got dat impression after visiting every nooks and corner of the state. I guess, u wudnt have visited the nooks and corner of other states to give u a fair comparison.

i hope the vomit didn't land on ur face??
there's prb with every region but ppl accept it and try to improve, they don't take centuries to do tht.
don't give me the panjabi/gujju example, panjab is the most properous state and gujrat(forgettin 2002) is damm good an industrial hub.don't forget panjab had millitancy jst a decade back and look where its now.

Mr Mohak, Being on one side of the screen doesn't mean darkness on the other side. What you have experienced is because the bad things are just more hyped rather than the good things done here. There are many good work carried in and around Patna by UNISEF and UNESCO to bring a change. But what is required more is to change the mindset of we the people, our perception of bihar.....we need to beleive that thigs can change and can change very rapidly....Who know in a decade or two, this place can be boasted of a new revolution.(and mark my words, erstwhie Bihar, Jharkhand is going to be the state to watch out for another industrial revolution in India)
RE:[object]

why do u need unisef and unesco to do work for u,tht's coz no bihari wants to work, simple.
RE:over-glorification
by rahul kumar on Mar 29, 2007 02:15 PM Permalink
UNISEF or UNESCO working doesn't mean some foreign nationals working. They are all made up of people from us, who after passing from esteemed institues like TISS are looking for the upliftment of the people there. Please refrain from commenting if u dont know the truth!

Dear Mohak, I am well travelled too, not only in Bihar but also in other states. In most of the cases prosparity vanishes the moment you go to remote areas (except Gujrat). Please appreciate the good level of education still survives in Bihar better than many other states. Good or bad people are at every where. I think you are bit too to talk harsh about Biharis.

So Mr Mohak, You proclaim to have travelled across every nook and corner of Bihar and what you found was only backwardness! Was there nothing to appreciate? In other way, that reflects that how backward you are in your own thoughts !!

RE:over-glorification

Dear Mohak, Naxal are present in some other states also, so dont point only one state for it, also there is no job opportunity to work in Bihar, hence people are fleeing the state, the same thing is also happening in other states like Bengal, Orissa, etc, so its better read the stats before writing anything. Also, people are very intelligent today so vested journalism does not work. Also saying Bihari society backward is very rude and childish from your part. Due to some people you cant portray the whole society according to them. This reflects some kind of hatred of yours for the Bihari society.

No I havent got offended, whatever you are saying might be true but being an Indian you might be a helping hand in rebuilding bihar as you have a broad picture of the state regarding its shortcomings, so please help the state by your vision. Every Bihari will bless you for that.
yes sir i wld love to help bihar and in very meagre proportion iam already doing tht- laying out fibre cables in vaishali and nalanda districts to provide internet access.
