Awe-inspiring story!
by Harmandeep Singh on Apr 04, 2007 09:00 PM   Permalink

Hats off to rediff's journos who have been to this place. There are hundres of unheard stories like this one...I cudnt stop tears of joy rolling down my cheeks.Infact its everywhere,i belong to Punjab and its still there being one of the richest states. My parents have been in teaching line for past 30 years and have been serving to poor kids like these by gifting them sweaters , books, sleepers and other useful stuff.I have literally seen students going to schools bare feet in the coldest days of december...tht left deep marks in my mind.It starts from me first, i do donate some amount everytime to the organisations who are doing good work for improvement be it be water aid , unicef or my natie village school where children need good books in their library, illiteracy ,poverty are one of the most important problems in todays India. It is need of the hour that we all look into all this and do a bit from our side taking reponsibility on our shoulders. There are more than one way to solve every problem..for i.e.even if you cannt go thr and help.you can do it online...
Its my humble request to everyone to put some thoughts and do a bit of charity on the name of humanity irrespective of quotas/religions in this rich cultured country.
