He seems to be a Maoist mouthpiece spitting out his venom. As far as the intellectuals, these are "CHAGOLS" (GOATS in Bengali) who has no clue to what's really going on. What's really going on is the looser Mamata and his Jamaet Mullah friends along with Naxals have been doing propaganda to do any constructive work in Bengal. They want to keep Bengal under dark shadows while gaining some political mileage. They love to create such violence and rip the benefit out of it.
