WE ALWAYS BOAST ABOUT THE STRENGTH OF OUR ARMED FORCES.WE HAVE FIGHTER PLANES AND CHOPPERS. ARE THE ONLY FOR DISPLAY? WAS THERE A COMMUNICATION FAILURE? COULD WE HAVE SENT TROOPS TO THEIR RESCUE? FORGET ABOUT HEAVY ARMOUR IF THERE WAS NOT MUCH TIME THEN A SINGLE MIG-21 SORTIE COULD HAVE DENTED THE RESOLVE OF MAOISTS.WAS THE AIR FORCE SLEEPING? OR CAN WE SAY THE POLICE MEN WERE NOT SO GOOD TO RECEIVE ANY AIR SUPPORT.OR IS IT THAT WE CAN AFFORD THE DEATH OF THE POLICE MEN AT THE HAND OF MAOISTS?

its easy to be disillusioned with what we have and what we dont.....we have a great armed forces...we have great civillian control over the mlitary like nowhere in the world....and we also have zero political will..our politician dont have the balls for tough decision...the last great leader to have calle the shots was Indira gandhi....
yes what yu have said about the communication is true....but believe me it is a failure of the police .. and the para military..
even f we asume(quite rightly) that the armed forces picked the commint.. still it cannot be acted upon for the follwing reasons...
1.there is no ops clearance for the operation in civillian area unles cleared by the govt/ the district collector calls in the army therby handing over the admin control.....so even if yu have a massacre happening .. the armed forces cannot act against thier own countrymen where the law does not cover them......if yu had someone launchg a strike...he would be shunted around...by the powres that be...the case of Adm bhagwati a grim reminder of the stiffling civillian conrol..
2.the intelligence gathered from this commint would not be cleared as actionable intelligence for any air strike as failure to be precise would lead to greater collateral damage...please note that there were students living area.in there...
3. the most important quetion is to ask what the hell wa the police forces of the adjoining area doing...the shooting carried out till 2 hrs...if no police help did come, what the DC was doing by not asking for military assistance...
3. in 2 hrs the Crisis management team could have landed the NSG in the area........assuming that they would have 1/2 hrs notice...prelimainary int would indicate that the naxals only carried small arms and thereby no great preparation would be reqd...NSG guys are equipped with latest night vision kits.... 4. last ly even if we failed in the efforts to save the police sjawans...why spl forces were not deployed with night devices and thermal kits to comb the jungle...
lots of question to ask my friend..suggest yu use the RTI on the role of the CMG/steps taken by the NSA....it is suffuce to say that he country was sleeping for two hours when the events were unfolding...... this must act as a wake up call to get the Crisis management group to shape up...the way i see terrorists planning future strikes in this country must be analysisng this inccident carefully and must be buyoant about thier future....
