Sovereignityy is the key
by sree on Mar 16, 2007 07:00 AM   Permalink

A republic is a collection of institutions. If the writ of those institutions -whether police or postman - does not run, then you have to redraw the map of the country leaving Nandigram and singur out.

Like it or not, India is an electoral democracy. People get what they deserve in a democracy. And you stick with it for 5 yrs - the price of voting (or not) for a particular party.

The report says the villagers "kept some villages out of bounds" and "dug up the roads". Who are these people to destroy the product of my tax rupees? You have a problem with a govt policy, you
a) go to court
b) write to your MP
c) start a political lobby group, and influence public policy.

As a hardcore nationalist who supports the RSS and the BJP, I am hereby doing the politically unthinkable - I support Buddhadhev bhattacharya's resolve in upholding the constitution of my nation-state - The Indian Republic
