Defence Budget
by sudip kumar on Mar 15, 2007 09:23 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

I hope you guys know that Airforce is olanning to buy 126 fighters . Each one will cost around 300 crores. So total amount is 37800 crores. DRDO' s yearly budget is a small fraction of this. Even total development cost of LCA (Tejas) is less than 5000 crores and you can produce n number of fighers with 1/3rd of the price. So the solution is not in closing the DRDO but by strengthning it with qualified young people in zeal to do something new.
Do u have the guts to leave MNCs and join DRDO

Cost of the product includes land cost, utility and other cost, which will be more than the price for sub standard product. LCA uses very old technology, even its software, hardware and control system and other interfaces. Why to depend on DRDO where project management or personnel management do not exist and there is no real accountability. Time has come to revamp DRDO

It is not for getting profit like selling
soap to get cost of production, castic soda
costs everything to calculate!!!

It is for own use & for our capability & for
national proud!!!
No bothering about costs, of course the cost
won't increase that much too in land, utility
etc.!!!

Yes I agree with you guys. The problem is everybody wants money. Who ever joins DRDO is feeling bad once their friends in IT/MNC'c earning more than them. A well learnt junior scientist(-B) of 2-3 experience is using his learnt knowledge in IT/MNC's by leaving. Make DRDO knowledge rich by giving the scientists better pay-package as comparative to MNC's. First and foremost thing is reduce the attrition. I am sure the best research and development work you could ever do is there in DRDO. And One more thing is a good management at senior level and constant motivation in terms of financial and morale will give definitely a great results.
