While feeling sorry for cadet, was just wondering - why do we only feel this way when a brave soldier dies this way "serving his country" . Thousands of people risk their lives every day for the country's welfare - the electrician who climbs poles and repairs live wires with bare hands repairing exposed electrical circuits, the hapless traffic cop who stands in the heat and dust and pollution day in and day out,the havaldar who gets stabbed and dies trying to catch armed robbers and snatchers leaving behind a famliy without any source of income, the miners who work in hazardous conditions to get coal ....... why is it that NO one ever comments on their fate or praises their loyalty and "brave" sacrifice for the country when accidents happen to them. How many times has any trust or fund been set up the way it is for soldiers who die defending their country. Or is it that the sacrifices made by the civilians is less than their uniformed counter parts.Don't get me wrong - I am not in anyway undermining the sacrifcies made by soldiers - my point here is to give equal support to civilians as well. An accident is an accident - could happen anywhere - but having a support system for one category and ignoring the other is a little unfair.

You dont get it do you. He is a "S O L D I E R". A person, who's profession is to defend your life ( meaning civilian's ). The article is pointing out at the lack of standards in training and eqp. in our country.

Thanks for enlightening me O enlightened soul - I guess the police and others who are killed in action saving others lives while on duty are not "SOLDIERS" and hence do not deserve any attention. Show me one area operated by the govt. in our country which has some training standard ? And the way you point it out is as if it is some kinda abberation than the rule.
