Its quite important for the army trainees to get trained with the actual weapons itself. But at the same time, an army jawan's life is too precious to be lost in a freak accident like this. Poor guy, he was not even able to serve his country before his death. Thats tragic. With the technology so advanced, can't we have something like a virtual reality training.. or atleast use a dummy grenade, which has exact weight, size etc of original, except for the power and impact. Only IMA can answer.

I agree with you. How can army let live wepons be handled by young untrained hands. Very sad and Bad at the same time. I hope they had a system in place to train their cadet with simulated or similar component but not live and hand them live weapons only if each and every one is certified and well trained to handle.

I am from the Armed Forces. We have no time to pussy foot in the Army. the more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in war. Training should be with live ammunition, War is not a joke, We would rather loose a few lives in training, than to put our troops to disaster in battle, and ultimately loose the war
