The same saga will continue year after year. people have got used to life. Those that do suffer(loss of life, property) themselves do not pursue justice, why would anyone else do anything for anyone? So unless one is amongst the afflicted parties and chooses to do something about it,nothing much is likely to change.I have been in this city for over 40 years now. and have seen it deteriorate.. gradually and slowly. the 'spirit of mumbai' is just an eyewash.I had petitioned the bmc on a few occassions on some issues, but nothing much comes out of these.only a complete ban on migration into this city ( atleast for a few years ) till it rejenuvates itself,as also clearing of slums with a very firm footing and proper waste management disciplines could help.. every additional human added to this citys population either by birth or thru migration is but adding to its woes. The infrastructure cannot support anymore.the railway rides are becoming increasingly stuffy, there are traffic snarls, potholed roads, power cuts, the mumbaites themselves are on the edge(there was this news of someone killing another over some dispute in a train on thursday ). the intolerance levels are increasing. Not able to manage their anger and frustration, they take it out on anyone that is available. Such instances would only increase. and then one day this city would become inhospitable for most and then reverse migration will start and perhaps then there willbe respite for those that last till that time.
