Every message I have read here speaks blatantly about how the BMC has failed each year. How many of us really know the facts about Mumbai City that we need to know before we teach others what to do? No doubt there is corruption, lack of funds, infrastructure etc etc etc and it goes on......... The main thing is that Mumbai is a city at sea level, not really meant to be a city in the first place. The main city was just seven islands. What you see today at Churchgate beyond the station was actually the sea shore. What we have inherited today as Mumbai City is there for everyone to see. Migration and influx of money has bought about blatant violation of the city's resources. The city was never planned to meet the demands of the huge population that it caters to today. If ever there was a need to plan, it should have been planned from the year 1947 or latest by 1980. But what the government did was to act blind to the smooth land grabbings by the so called slums and slumlords. The only reason not to fight against that would be "violation of human rights". But what we do now is give the same people free homes, the so called Slum redevelopment scheme.... So in a way it is like, come rob my house and i will give you roasted chicken for dinner. Absolute lack of planning here too... But If you are still living in this city is because you love the city like no other when it is not raining. Isnt it? So in a way if you want to stay here, live with the problems or keep compla

It is true that our dwelling places are much compacted with people, bounded by concrete walls. Along with population control, immigration control, one most important thing to be done is consumption control. Always try to scale your sorroundings with natural habitat, not with USA, Saudi or England. We have become so obcessed with material development that we have forgotten to save nature gifted pure air, potable water and unadulterated healthy food. Instead to achieve undesirable artificial development we are keeping this biological systems in non-compatible concrete and plastic sorroundings. To get basic elements of life (air, water & food), we should inculcate to reestablish multi-tier hetero vegetation both on farm lands and urban sorroundings. We should stop hated towards nature and undesirable affinity towards arrogantly created artificial habitats. All wise people should start allocating at least 75% of our owned land under multi-tier vegetation and 25% only and hardly under concrete slabs or pavings. This will allow soil to absorb, store and supply water incessantly.
