I have lived in Mumbai for more than 16 years and now working abroad for last 6 years. During my stay of 16 years the situation was no different. Every year we used the face the same problem despite of tall claims from BMC and TMC. There is a sheer lack of will on part of government, municipal corporations, politicians and the beurocrats to improve the things. Thay care a dam for the people and the city. This situtaion gives them an opportunity to make money every year in the name of cleaning and road repairing etc. These are ills of democracy which we are so proud of.
I have been staying in Dubai and have witnessed a tremendous growth due to sheer will power and vision of rulers. I feel this system is better than having so called democracy in India. At least people are not made to face unnecessary hardships.
The roads here are made by same Indian engineers and labour and nothing happens to the road for years together and no repair is carried out since there is no damage despite of temperature reaching 50 degree plus in summer. How come same engineers are not able to make this kind of roads in India? I think it is not difficult to guess.
Unless those corrupt and illitrate politicians are removed and thrown in the arabian sea, the Mumbai will face these problems year after year.

Dubai ? This place only looks good but actually, it's NEXT TO HELL !! You only get to earn lots of money (if you're lucky) and sleep around with many nationalities ELSE, be prepared to stay in a cramped room like animals. The Employers are ever ready to exploit you in whatever way he could. I've been in this country for 4 years and planning to return for good; so does my other countrymen. Even with ENDLESS PROBLEMS in our country, we can live - with DIGNITY and PRIDE. LONG LIVE INDIA and LONG LIVE MY COUNTRYMEN !!

hey, why blame BMC & TMC, arent you accountable too. When you walk on the streets of Dubai you refrain from throwing waste on the road or in a corridor. The reason is, you are afraid of being penalised. Would you do the same in Mumbai. Inspite of being grown up and receiving good education we need rules to teach us cleanliness and morality, do we? I stay in NZ and its been easy for me to point out things like these to people back home. Besides how many politicians would you throw in to the sea. Would you like suffering from absolute power, like the arabs do. At present you dont mind it since they pay you well, the underlying message is that they pay you well to keep your trap shut, else you leave their country. Sorry to say that brother. Do our brothers in Mumbai have an opportunity to be where we are, at present? We need to change. It's we who are responsible for all this, theres no point in blaming the BMC or the TMC.
