Shekhavat and Kalam (if contests) will lose to Pratibha Tai Patil in the number game. So better withdraw your nominations gracefully, instead of getting humiliated. Shekhawat will lose marginally and Kalam with his deposit.
It is indeed shameful that so called hypothetical intellectuals (or illiterates?) sitting in the A/c cabinets, surfing the nets could not digest the fact that a women of substance from rural India is becoming the first President are opposting her candidature on the petty grounds of gender, domicile, age etc. etc. etc.
Lets look in positive perspective and welcome Pratibha Tai as the future president. She is none but a diamond chosen from the series of Coal Mines and the nation will shine under her Presidential regime.

One thing I note is the "ego" of the NDA and UPA have deprived this nation of the people's choice Kalam. We will be stuck with a mediocre candidate Patil who has "baggage". This is unfortunate. We, as individuals, are advised to shed our ego. Maybe the same advice should be given to parties too!
These "sleezy games" at election time are part of the process and seem to happen all the time. They are healthy.There may be some truth to them.
