Pak protest on Knighthood
by rajagopal nambakam on Jun 19, 2007 08:24 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

What right Pakistan has to protest to UK for conferring knighthood on Salman Rushdie. First of all he was not a Pakistani, but he was Indian. UK has every right confer Knighthood on whosoever they feel right. If Salman Rushdie has written/exposed the negative side of Islam, he has right to give his opinion. If Pakistan is against UK, they first better call back all Pakistanis from UK and then protest. Pakistanis want to enjoy everything possible on foreign soils & criticise them when it doesn't suit Pakistan. Salman Rushdie was bold enough to expose the short comings in Islam. If Pakistan is so infuriated, why do they allow Indian muslims females, like Zeenat Aman, Zia Khan, Nagma, Saira Banu expose half naked bodies in films which is totally against Islam? Why not Pakistan ban employment for ladies, females driving vehicles (as practiced inSaudi) and ban females going on to streets without male escort (of course on account of criminals in the name of Islam, in Saudi) and all such unislamic acts. Since it does not suit Pakistan's interest, they dont bna such unislamic things.

I dont expect any type of rationalisation from Pakistan for its activities, dont waste your time in condemning them. I am glad for what Jinnah did to India, taking Pakistan and Bangladesh (East Pakistan then) from us there by allowing us to grow to a nation that we are now (inspite of all the problems that we have)

Mohammed Faizuddin Ahmed,

You'll do well to read some history and realize that Sati as a practice is no more prevalent in India except for one or two remote cases. Coming to Kamasutra, it is the crown piece of all that Indian culture has to offer to the world - the art of making love. We dont resent Kamasutra. We are very proud of it.

As far as our religion is concerned, we are very well aware of our religion and we understand it. Anyway, that is completely irrelevant to the topic at hand and the points raised by the commenters. If there's anything wrong with our religion, it doesnt automatically make other religions good or better off.

You are nobody to ask us to shut our mouth. We enjoy the right to express, unlike in the country from which you are (maybe Pakistan) and we are proud of it.
