The Master Stroke... It was clearly a master stroke the UPA had hit. And it hit the right target. I have met H.E. Smt. Pratibha Patel in Rajasthan in her capacity as the Governor - and found her to be extremely gracious, a quiet, yet strong personality, very observant and understandable, very humane, yet firm to her convictions. This was during one of our programmes at jaipur during the Gandhi Katha. I believe that her candidature for the post of the President of the Sovereign India is also a tribute to the women soldiers of our country from Rani of Jhansi to Kasturba Gandhi to many other unsung 'heroines'. It is also an honour to the courage with which women have to live each day of their life. I hope that she is able to maintain and retain the dignity of the post, - thugh their isn't any doubt about it - as this coveted post has unfortunately become a game for politics and vote banks.

Yes Mr. Rajdeep, I fully agree with you. Though her candidature is a surprise, but she is a deserving personality with a long standing clean career. The people who are critisizing without even slight knowledge is shameful. Her family is in shock becouse of the pleasant surprise element, but they are in a shock for their lack of knowledge.

The Caste Stroke
There are many personalities in Indian politics who condcuts themseleves with integrity and shrewed enough not directly getting into any corruption issues.
However, is this enough to become President of Republic of India, a chair honoured by personalities like, Dr Rajendra Prasad, Dr. Radha Krishnan, Dr Kalam ??
Starting from Ms Sarojini Naidu to Indira Gandhi we always had women leaders in poweerful positions and even with that, what real empowerment have happned to our women? If such powerful posts cannot do any good to them, how can post like President who doesnt have any executive power can do any good to our women.
Congress has been playing typical dirty caste politicsm as usual.
