what is REAL democracy ?
by Mikkey Moouse on Jun 11, 2007 02:34 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Who ever said democracy was the panacea for all ills is a moron ! Adolf Hitler the greatest madman responsible for the largest number of deaths in history (52 million in WWII) was democratically elected in 1933 in Germany. Democracy may be suitable in some countries, but not in others.

Democracy is "the People" in total....when a Politician offers promises to the ENTIRE population, its democracy....as happens in USA & European elections.

When the Politicians offers promisies to certain SECTIONS of the people eg. religion, ethnic, langauage groups etc, then its NO longer democracy....as happens in Indian elections.

u r absolutely right with ur last points on what democracy is ...in democracy, there shd be a uniform civil code ....no two policies based on caste or religion ...there shd be an equal opportunities for all ...and for that every body shd get basic minimum help from the govt ...same education (not so many boards) etc
