Hi Friends! Let us think more rationally and practically. How many of us really using the internet facility for the productive purposes? In particular, How much time we are spending in orkuting and how productive has been the time we are forgoing? Just think!! You may say that you are refreshing or having fun to get fresh mind through orkut. Do we actually in the position to spend such valuable time for this.
I am not against in orkuting, but i am just trying to say you that accessibility of some needless facilities may lead to negative results. It is just like providing accessibility of cigars to the kids. I strongly feels that we don't need orkut.com which encourages the misuse of scarce sources. We have free mailing facilities from Yahoo, rediff, g.mail, hot mail so on and so forth.......just think

If somebody wants waste his time, there r plenty of ways of doing it. This includes posting on this site. In that case, the whole internet is prone for misuse. Can we ban the internet?

Ofcourse, there are plenty of ways in the internet to waste time. But we are not ready to accept a place like orkut which is in my view "an useless place to discuss useless things by some jobless people".
It seems like Google has no control over the orkut communities and not at monitoring them. If there is some control and moderation for each community, then its fine. But I don't think its practically possible.

Well said Mr.Surender. I completely agree with you. How may communities are there in orkut discussing about meaningful and informative subjects?
Last week I came accross a thread in an orkut community which says that if 5 posts are posted by guys, then guys would win and if girls then they win. The worst thing is the thread is still growing with more than 10,000 posts.
What is this...? Don't these people have any other job to do. I admit that, Social networking is a great concept, but its not taken in the right way.

I agree with you. Recent Pune rave-party is one example where hundrads of young kids involved in drug consumptions thru these social networking websites! None of these online social circle generates anything positive. Some young/old minds looking for cheap destructive entertainment.
Banning these may or may not help but the truth of the matter is they are only there like alcohol or drug as some one mentioned.
