The only way to meet water scarcity is to build/rennovate large lakes in rural area's to harvest RAIN water. A lake of about 1000 acre can sustain drinking water and cultivation for nearly 1000 people. We should stop building big dam's a/c rivers and there by wasting lot of resources and also destroying forest.

right on the mark. every village should have a bund, a tank or small lakes around. water harvesting should be compulsory in villages to cities.

That's right. water harvesting in lakes has multiple benifits like drinking water, cultivation, ground water recharging and humidity maintaining etc., Also by building lakes we won't be destroying forest like those bid dams do.
