Neats promise nayhting to get elected, and in many instances, if you're allied with the ruling colaition as DMK has, then you can promise nayhting in return for votes, like free TV, bikes, Rice, Oil, Petrol Bicycles, wives, dowries, while others promise jobs in already bloated PSUs/PSEs, govt and other govt realated entities, while others promise changes in status to avail of free govt srvices and perks, like being converted to the lowest possible rung in the ladder - STs. Soon even Maya will be changing the status of her Brahmin supporteers to ST caste to aloow them to avail of quotas, reservations, set-asides, perks, freebies.... The best solution would be to declare everyone STs, and veryone below the poverty-line would be provided with free everyhting, thus taking away the one major tool of the selfisg neats to pad their vote-banks.
