We are all focussing on the symptons - not the root causes. My sympathies are with Sanjay Dutt - in the scenario which was prevailing during those times it was not unnatural for a misguided youth to try to protect his family.

If he really intended to protect his family with AK-56 assault rifle and grenades then he should have applied officially for a gun license. License is available for revolvers for self defence for Rs 40,000 ,not a big amount for sanjay dutt.

u mean to say every one should have AK56 and grenades because during riot no one is safe whether it is Sanjay Dutt or you and me. This is not a way, if every one will have same mentality one day India will becomes Afganistan......

there is no evidence that a mob was going to attack him. if a mob really wanted to attack him, nothing would have saved the dutt family, not even ak-47.
by the way did he publicly announce that he had obtained a ak-47 ? only that way he could have prevented a mob from attacking him. secretly possessing it would not help, because mob would attack him not knowing he had ak-47.

Why wud anyone target Sanjay dutt during riots..silly excuse to get away...basically a rich kid who totally went wayward...maybe nice on screen but deserves this!!
