It is outrageous. Everybody knows that he had no intentions of hurting anybody. He committed a stupid mistake and he suffered for 13 years for it. That itself is enough of punishment for him. We all know that in India real criminals and politicians with criminal background are roaming free without any fear. Those people and their actions are real threat to society and affects real people and their lives. Have you ever heard of anybody of them going to jail for long term? There are scores of bad people with illegal arms and bad intentions and nobody wants to do anything against them. All I can say is its not fair at all%u2026%u2026

Comeon man. The verdict is unbiased, do you think based on your argument, judge will say its ok you can go home, lot of other people also have weapons. His 'conduct' is the highlight point in the verdict. The way judge chose his links with underworld to show that he is not eligible for POA are excellent. I do not know about Dutts problems but all I know is everybody is equal before law. That's why she is blindfolded.

Well for one it is easy to pick on soft targets. Actors make for easy targets and results are highly visible to keep gullible people happy. I do think though some more punishment like maybe another year would have been more appropriate since what he did was unlawful but magnitude is a bit harsh. There are tons of such criminal politicians in UP/Bihar but they hardly ever are convicted. In very rare cases if there is some really serious charge(few murders etc) then maybe. I would be happier if some of those politicians got the rap. But Bombay police did control(extra-judicial actions) these gangs which used to run extortion rackets pretty well so hopefully action is happening and then people will not feel the need for these things. Looking at the scenario those days(92-93), it is not entirely un-imaginable for someone who(or family- read muslim mom) could be a target, to keep ammunition etc. If customs could allow guns to be brought in with some bribe, it does not inspire lot of confidence. I hope this is considered by SC.

Whiner.. whats ur point.. just because some politicians in UP/Bihar are not in jail we should free up all criminals in the country? Look at this from positive side...We as a country henceforth will not spare any more rich, famous, poor, popular people for their wrong doings

Whiner, what is your point? Sicne we can not get the real bad guys, put away people who are easy to get? His family had also received threats. So circumstances were not usual for him. http://www.rediff.com/news/2002/aug/06dilip.htm
