The Nuclear Deal definitely benefits India. Not only in civilian energy sector but it is a path breaking deal which will benefit most areas where dual use (civilian & military) technologies are used. In today's era, most technology is dual use. It will immensely benefit ISRO too & will eventually get technology for Indian Defence Industries.
No doubt we have developed a lot on ur own. But tech transfer will benefit us in the long run and in multiple fields. The US needs India as much as we need the US for technology.
My contention to all those who oppose the deal is very plain and simple. If someone has already invented a circle, why should we waste time, money and effort to reinvent the same. Buy off the technology and then use our brains and money to move forward from there. We will reach up higher, faster and surer. We need to think of our growth and of our self interest.
A ship is always safe at the shores or in the dockyard but that is not what it is built for. Let us show more confidence and belief in our own country and in its abilities. We are a strong country and let us take on the world from a position of strength.

Hey genius, are you aware that our nuclear weapons capabilities are not fully developed yet? With this N-Deal, there is the danger that India will not conduct further tests, in order to improve its weapons to deter China & Pak, both of whom have more advanced weapons than India. What do we do then?
Also, don't forget that thorium gives India much more independence, which other powers seek to take away.
