Let us appreciate the boldness and the frankness with which the US officials issue statements. They are clear that the agreement has to be in US interests, it should prevent spread of nuclear weapons and help in better relationships which means billions of dollars worth of sales of equipment to india. On the other hand, our whimpish, unelected PM keeps misleading the public and would have signed a completely one-sided agreement long back if Dr Khadodkar had not intervened. No country can be strong if it does not build strong, internal and self confident institutions. We are strong in space because we stand on our own feet. This PM will drag us a few decades back.
