It is a shame that we are still continuing the legacy of the British, who used to use the rashtrapathi for their viceroys who used to engage subservient indians for their mundane and menial jobs. India is now independent and Dr.Kalam very rightly said that it (RP Bhavan) is a people's bhavan. He used to shun ostentatious living in the true traditions of indian democracy. The govt should quickly think of using the place for more useful purposes. The amount spent every year for the maintenance of the huge building, estates and staff is collosal. Can India afford such wasteful expenditure?
