Test for India democracy
by on Jan 28, 2007 05:47 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Granting citizenship to Taslima on the basis of her being a victim of fundamentalist's hatred would be a test of Indian democracy. If it is granted, it would mean India has matured into a democratic nation and is not moved by low level vote politics. The alternative is what India is becoming fast under Congress rule. A banana republic where a weak government's policies are determined by communists, terrorists and fundamentalists pressure and vote bank politics.

Had Deepa Mehta been a muslim, she would surely have been given permission to do anything in India under government protection. A muslim in India can paint Hindu godesses nude, can burn trains carrying innocent passengers, drive out Hindus from Kashmir and explode RDX bombs to kill innocent citizens.

I was compelled to reply to u PNRAZDAN :
Here it is :

1) Had Deepa Mehta been a muslim , she would not have made WATER. Is the hatred not enough already that muslims get from the majority here?

2) Paint Hindu Goddesses and get what? Ransacked? Thrown out ? Abandoned by the muslim community for so-called-Art?

3) Burn trains? And then What? making our own community vulnerable in the state where eating non-veg is disallowed but killing muslims is Keeping up with world politics viz: Kill Muslims.
4)Drive out Hindus and then what? become stateless?
5) Explode bombs and then what??

You Muslim-Haters think. We can only axe our own feet! Why would we want to be miserable?
Why would we want to make ourselves look bad?
Why would we not want to have peaceful lives for ourselves?? Which parent would want his son to life full of misery??
Get off man!!!! Put your hate in bin!!!

Fareed, your reply is perfectly valid. All these mischiefs do end up in a reaction from the other side which is quite normal but not ideal.
But one clarification. Nobody in India is a Muslim hater. Hated are the persons who commit these mischiefs and treason. The community bashing comes only because no muslim condemns any of these things and an impression, absolutely wrong though, goes around that everybody is part of it.

Who says we don't condenm...WE DO! But even before it comes out the thing takes an ugly shape to an extent that the whole community is judged by acts of a few from Kashmir to Kanya Kumari and from Gujrat to Nagaland!
