Reservation --- A must in the current scenarios
by op suman on Jan 28, 2007 07:33 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Feelings expressed by Mr. Seshan is not unexpected. Being a BRAHMIN himself , he only voiced the opinion of a major section of the upper castes thinks today . The history of casteism is very badly described by this section of the so- called upper castes . The wealth gap is not just a story of merit and achivement, it's also a story of historical legacy of caste divison in the society. Caste is associated today with class in our country. Casteism is not natural, it's well thought out and planned Mr. Seshan......

Op Suman,

I am stupified by ur comments. Please access the whole country and you will see that Caste and status (financial capacity) are two different things. I know alot of my frds who are SC and are stinking rich. These frds are now in professional courses tahnsk to the quota system and a pathetic in studies, But I am sure they will do well in life because their fathers are from rich families. However Let me point out that I also have some SC and oBC frds who are so smart and intelligent. And at the same time I also know my brahmin frds whose fathers are so poor that they are not able to finance their education in college and hence these frds study in eve college and work during the day!!!. SO caste by no means refelcts the status of a person anymore!!!!

Wonder if you would react the same if your caste was included in the general category. Then, probably you would go ahead and immolate yourself. You obviously belong to the creamy layer and want to milk the benefit of reservation to the max. How can caste be same as class? This is sheer stupidity. I am willing to give up my caste and change my name. Give me all your wealth.
