Driving The Ship from Land...

Mr. Ravi Shankar, I fail to understand your wisdom to drive home certain neat points sitting in the cushion of luxury in some foregn land, after running away froma system, you yourself called a damn one at first. when did that damn one become a 'sweet home'? After noticing fallacies of a so-so foreign culture, you had dreamt of? These paper tigers better be asked to serve their country for some time, at least pay back, what this 'damn' system had contributed to them, before gaining to authority to preach. where do you expect India to prosper? Is that when the goverment pump in a lot of conutry men's hard earned money into IITs to nurture the home talent, and alas, all of them realise at the end of their course that the very system is 'damned' and run of chsing their white dollar dreams. please don't publish this kinda hollow preachings anymore. Let him keep waiting their till the streets of india be free of litter, poiliticians be gentlemen, and people greet and smile evrybody else; for him to come back. Please get down to the thick and breadth of this country, you will see a lot of people serving the nation without expecting a public name, take cues from them to get th ereal picture. First let the preachers gain the authority.

I agree, since when did you start finding faults of your home. Its the same home that you started from to where you are now. Its not that such things appeared overnight, they were there. I am not against IT but believe me it is IT that has given us this ounce of courage to stand at a pedestal and make judgements about the same place called home. Take IT away and you still have the same problems you are mentioning.

Having said that, I would also like to add that we do not close our eyes to realities that you have pointed out. Would have appreciated if you could follow events back home and how the little insignificant things are turning out real big. Hope you are following the criminal cases in the country, something unheard of years ago is happening. Justice is being given. This is just a small example n there are many more. Smart people like you decide to give up cosy things in life and walk the talk. Please read about them as well, there are many many such small individuals who in their own small way are contributing towards building this great country. Its a small step but atleast in the right direction.

Instead of passing judgements on the state of the country, it would be really appreciable if the good things are highlighted and encouraged. Am not suggesting we close our eyes but rather help in our small way either through work or some words of encouragement. Ravi, you are a consultant and am sure you know how to present the best case studies, project profiles to your clients. I am sure you would not like to highlight anything that would prove to be a detriment in doing a deal or work cos thats how you build your organization. Its not taking away the fact that your organization would be a worthy vendor for its clients. Its just that we present the positive highlights being also aware of the negatives.

I would not like to sound preachy though, but it would be a better if we did something for the country and then tried to say anything about it. Just to get a feel for it - would you be willing to quit your job abroad and come back and try contributing in your own small way for the betterment of the nation. Its difficult cos the shine of the dollars and the pounds make it difficult to come back. Fully understanding that every human has to make his living, i appreciate your working abroad as you have your dreams to follow, things to accomplish but at the same time do not be so contemptful of people here. Everything needs time and give it some time, the changes will happen. It would be really good of you to say some positive things that uplift the spirits of peole home so that we try and make it a better place by the time our folks abroad come back home.
