Praful Bidwai's column about Saddam
by Kakatua Autakak on Jan 16, 2007 08:04 AM   Permalink

I am surprized to learn that none of the posts in this discussion supported Mr. Bidwai. However I am fully in agreement with him on this article. Saddam committed crime - no doubt about it, he was hanged thats fine too. But the way he was executed was not fair. We all must remember that he has committed a war crime and being a former president of an independant nation he was supposed to stand in front of an UN tribunal & the US did not let it go (as everyone knows the current Iraqi govt is nothing but a puppet regime). Moreover, catching and killing Saddam costed some million innocent lives in Iraq for which we cannot blame him, rather the only available person/govt to blame is the US regime. So if Saddam is executed for 148 lives in 1982 or may be a few more thousands, then why the US govt is not held responsible for killing (directly or indirectly) a million innocent iraqis ??? Also, if Milosevic can get a tribunal why not Saddam ??? - Kakatua
