Social agreement with US
by jay on Jan 07, 2007 10:25 PM   Permalink

The Indian govt should social security agreement with the US. The US govt takes around 10 % of the salary as social security tax on the pretext Indian govt does not have social security. The US govt will give social security only if the person works in the US for a min period of 10 years. But since most of the working professionals are on H1B visa (max of 6 years), the US govt collects free money (to the tune of more than 1 billion dollars every year). The US govt does have social security agreements with all the white allies. Its high time the Indian govt looks into this issue with the US govt especially when India has the power to flex its muscles.
