After the take over of BSES by Reliance it has gone on looting spree, all electronic meters installed by Reliance record horribly high units where as in actual practice consumption is much less, BSES was much better than Reliance which used to pay perfect attention to customers complains. Reliance is like MTNL when we complain they send standard reply our meter is perfect and recording correct consumption so we are wrong and they are right!!!! When I complained about faulty meter they replied we tested meter and it is perfect where as meter was never taken to Laboratory for checking !!!!!!!!!!! How can they test meter without taking to Laboratory? This is nothing but fooling people. When BSES was there on complain they used to take out meter and test in Laboratory and submit report to consumers.
If someone in public interest come up with PIL and file suit against Reliance they will have to refund excess charge so far collected since take over and millions of subscribers will be benifited.

This is a good case to be taken to consumer court, by having the reliance meter tested in standard lab and producing the results in court. In this way Reliance can be penalised for faulty meter and bad service. Penalise amount could be the cost of your case mental torture you had because of this issue. Good case to be logged. This will serve as a lesson for the less consumer focussed companies. Good luck. There is no use in crying through the life and its time to teach the true power of Indian consumer to these irresponsible company.

If it is electronic meter, there is no need of testing it in laboratory. U can also check whether it is OK or not by counting the no. of pulses for one unit.
Actually, the people should be educated about the meters which are correct. It is wrong perception of the people that the meters are recording high consumption.
If earth fault is there in the wiring then also the meter will record. U can get your wiring rectified and then your energy consumption will come down.

The fact is the for years and years mechanical meters were being used by BSES. Electronic meters even detect usage if the TV is switched off by remote control but the main switch is on! Many people might not be knowing this I am sure.
