Here in the US, the Chinese are the ones who are really respected. No matter how much the Indians act like the westerners, they are always seen as second class citizens. After all we are the real corrupt people (including Indians abroad!).

Hi Sudhir, Jay and hello,
I aplogize for using the word 'they'. It was by mistake, I really meant 'we'. I am not abcd, cbad or any other "permutation-combination"! I am very much an INDIAN.

Then be proud who you are or at least try to make urself better, so you dont have to consider urself inferior.

Before expecing respect from others we need to respect ourselves. People who who use "they" for their countrymen should first clear their minds as to where they belong. Perhaps nowhere!!!

Bang On. We demean ourselves. We prostrate before white skins. You will be amazed that 5times out of 10 if I and a foreigner reach the reception of a hotel at the same time .. the gora is attended to first.
Whenever we have a gora comes visiting we are so proud to show him our backwardness.
We show them slums we dont show them the wonder of how the underpriviledged live side by side with the priviledged without any acrimony (unthinkablein gora land),
we show them cows on roads we dont show them our compassion for every living being (they remove their destitutes out of sight),
we show them our chaotic traffic we dont tell them that because of this with 10 times more traffic incidents we have 10 times lesser fatalities on the road than NY thx to our chaotic traffic.
We need to get out of the gora complex. Remember while we were debating the finer points of mathematics, astronomy & philosophy the poor gora was trying to figure out how to wipe his red rear. Admitted he has progressed since then, but we are no way inferior to him.
