let them go
by Saikat Sengupta on Feb 21, 2007 02:03 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

why on earth are we stopping them, let them go, with a condition that they shud never set foot on Indian soil again.

I am currently in Dubai , and i know how these people are exploite in sweat shops and construction sites. A Rs 12000 salary might sound a lot to a construction worker in india, but the equizalent dirham salary of AED1000 is nothing in dubai, it is virtually less than peanuts, 20 people sharing a 20 ft by 20 ft accomodation have to pay 200-300 AED per head minimum. I have known people to just live on boiled rice and salt for days and grow a beard to save cost of shaving. Blue collared expat workers are worse than slaves in this country.

I hope you are one of those...Just because you may be well off don't look down upon people. After all they are human beings and trying to earn a living. Remember.. India was the poorest country past independance and its people like these who set foot abroad for various jobs from sweat shops to construction sites and upto NASA and microsoft that we are seeng this good time of economic boom.
