We mostly inherit our sanskars & beliefs from our parents, grandparents & the religious preachers (none of whom normally speak about the Manusmriti).
Hinduism & all the other religions born in India are indeed the most tolerant & progressive religions/ ways of life in the world.

In 1971 war Hindu Army caputured more than 1 Lac ISlamic Porkistani Soldiers. Now, these soldiers were allowed to go home with dignity.
Similarly, at the start of the Kargil War, Hindu soldiers were brutually tortured to death and their dead bodies thrown in the open. But, when these same Hindu soldiers kill the barbaric islamist from Porkistan, the dead bodies were buried by these hindu soldiers.
We just have to look at these examples to know which religion teaches what and whose parents teach what.

How many prisioners of Wars captured by Hindu Army in 1971 war? How were these POWs treated by Hindu Army?
How much land was again donated after this war back to ISlamist Porkistan?
