We are obsessed with consumables!
by Mayya Suresh on Feb 16, 2007 09:02 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

Middle eastern or Russian oil and Gas reserves are resources that will be easily driven to extinction if India and China consume the same way America does today. While China is going around securing energy sources, India has been marginally successful. We have been following China like a kid follows the parent when it comes to securing energy supply. It is time India invested heavily on the research of alternate energy supply. It is time to kick our scientist out of hibernation and ask them to put their acts together. Look at the enoromous amount of money spent in reinventing the wheel in India. And we have some (one such name rhymes with aao!) dead woods who have no known retirement age, who continue running our scientific community like a mafia for decades. It is time we ask them simple questions and send them home with a good retirement package and do some work in earnest with the younger and much more motivated bunch of scientists who are nevertheless grooming with or without the help from these esteemed mafia scientists.

I agree with you.. But remember that I dollar is around 47 INR.. So if an american counterpart of our ISRO scientist gets 50 times more then it not a big deal.. ISRO scientists should be given an above average salary based on Indian Standards without considering what thier counterparts are getting in other countries.
