dude which world do u live in?? hydrocarbons are the ones killing our planet..dont u realise that?? HCs can be supplemented by wind, tidal, hydro electric, fuel cells, solar etc. The govt is providing huge subsidies to HCs which is the reason for for our huge trade defecit. If the same money is invested in development/invention/promotion of alternative energy then we'll have a better world to live in and also frees us from the dictumns of west and middle east. Offcourse I dont consider nuclear fuel as an alternative to HCs as its more dangerous than HCs.

emissions can be cut down by going green compressed natural gas is an option and nowadays most cars are zero emmission so dont blame hydrocarbons, The worlds economy is dictated by them, every dollar increase in a barrel makes a strain on the national budget , inflation etc, and no amount of wind, tidal, solar or any friendly source can replace them yes they are green but not when it comes to providing energy to 1.2billion people, we are an emerging economy we need energy to reach the need of our economy, I am not against the environment but for India and china we need to concentrate on growth we need to implement techniques where we can cut on our CO2 emissions by using technology but not go complete green thats the reality I see

Why don't we think of drastic measures to reduce consumption? India should encourage animal muscle power.
