Wife elopes - court orders protection
by Raghavan Kesavan on Feb 15, 2007 08:59 AM   Permalink

The caption seems to misleading .The court has not ordered protection in support of elopement .The court has done its duty to protect the lives of two people who have done something for which they fear for their lives. This itself is a proof ha the couple themelves araware that what hey have done is an offence prima facie. What the court hjas done is the appropriate thing to do. .It is right.what the couple have done seems to amount to an offence punishable under certain common or personal laws . The court can not decide the nature of case abruptly simply on the petition of one party to the case .In the menwhile, since it is possible that the affected party might do something to harm the alleged offenders , the court has to grant the protection sought for till the case is decided on its merits .That does not approve of the acion of the eloped parties . I think the caption of the news item should be different to some extent
