Stay in Karnataka
by Sathiyamoorthi Mahendran on Feb 06, 2007 03:26 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

Hi Ponnappa, After analysing for 17 years and having all statistical data tribunal has come with their conclusion....do u think tribunal decision is wrong or do u think they don't considered...(what ur talking about).
Among all states in india, except Karnataka, other state citizens can stay peacefully....But this is not the situation in karnataka....why is that happening...what the government is doing ????Why they couldn't do any proper action....

Sandeep,
As per the tribunal's award, TN is getting less than it has asked, as also less than what it has historically received.
So this is a "victory" for TN and "defeat" for KA only insofar as expectations are concerned. While TN is desperate after years of KA's refusal to honor interim as well as Supreme court awards, KA has maintained a maximalist position that basically said TN is not entitled to a single drop of water that falls on KA.
This is obviously a political position with no thought to reality. Cauvery is the only major river that runs through TN. If it is turned off, TN will turn into a desert within one generation. India being a free country, where do you think those poor desperate starting people are going to migrate to?
