Just because tamilnadu was under british presidency in 19th century and they governed large parts of south india, they could bulldoze the mysore maharaja to do their bidding. and moreover since mysore region lacked the funds, they could not build any dams like what british government did in building mettur dam.probably if Sir Visveswaraiah had not built KRS, we would not have been eligible to draw even one tmc for our needs. Just because of mettur dam, tamil provinces increased their cultivation area and not their right because they dont get so much of rains in their area. Now that we have increased our cultivated area to take care of our food needs, tamil nadu cannot use an 150 year old story to demand excess share. Instead of wasting water and cultivating wetland cultivation of rice and shouting that they dont have sufficient water, let the tamilnadu government teach its farmers to use water in more efficient way like sprinklers, drip irrigation etc which is found to be scientifically tested method and requires only 50% of the water required. If they do so, they will have excess water .

I agree with u. How can we now wage war on a rule that was set up way nack on 1892. I dont understand why Tamilnadu is playing this dirtly game. This case is equal to another issue "Mullaperiyar" between Kerala and Tamilnadu. The river (Periyar) originates from Kerala, flows only thru Kerala and the DAM is also in Kerala. Still Tamilnadu wants FULL water, only bcoz of one alarming agreement for 999 years in 1890s. Since British was in power, the powerful Madars Presidency did this. Now Kerala and Karnataka have to stand united for Mullaperiyar and Cauvery issues and fight against the OLD law.

Good arguement. In that case why should we be united. Lets separate each states as each country.

hey Sundaree. I never said that Kerala and Karnataka should wage war against TamilNadu. Rather I said to stand united and fight against the OLD law. Actually we should scrap all the pre-independence laws.
