The sc has given its judgement. If there is scanty rainfal what should the karnataka do, to give 419 tmcft. With the rapid growth of bangalore and mysore there is heavy demand for drinking water. Already bagamandala, the birth place of Cauvery is facing shortage of drinking water. First preference should be given to drinking water.

Mr. rajendraprasad... if there is a scanty rainfall, the jury has said that all states should bear the brunt. That means all state which get lower share, i.e. all will be equally affected.
Info on how water sharing is to be done:
- Cauvery's total rain water catchment is 740 TMC. This includes areas in TN & Karnataka.
- TN to get 419 TMC.
- Karnataka to get 270 TMC.
- of 419 TMC TN will get 192 TMC from Karnataka, and the rest (227 TMC) from its own rain catchment areas.
