This is pathetic!

The whole issue is quite stupid. Rivers dont belong one sole state just because it originates there. Make rivers national property and share waters equally. Do we ever hear american states fight over the Mississippi or english counties quabble over the Thames? This will furball into a serious issue during times of prolonged drought. I hope the tribunal is wise enough to forsee this.

You are right. Infact, the whole issue is "human greed" and nothing else. Karnataka will not become poor if it releases a few more tmc ft of water and Tamilnadu will not become rich if it gets some more water. Let people treat others as "people".

The water sharing scheme was setup for a reason. All parties need to live up to this. Karnataka is the one which has never lived up to this so they need to change.

Few years back, there were calls to stop providing electricity to Karnataka from Tamil Nadu. Luckily, the politicians in TN were more mature than that to stop electricity. Karnataka should think about the consequence of stopping resources like water unless someone retaliates with electricity.

These southern states only think about themselves and there lies the problem.

Mr. Sai, I agree with you that water should be shared equally. If you read the article properly, Tamil Nadu contends that it requires 565 tmc of water for itself and 175 tmc to Karnataka. is that fair ? You are right that just because it originates in one state, it doesn't belong that state likewise just it flows in another state, it doesn't belong to that state too. As you said about rivers in western world, there is surplus of water in those countries and they have never seen draught unlike in India. Living in Detroit, MI which is known for land of 5 Great Lakes which pretty much looks like an ocean and looks like it can cater to the whole world... :-) Hence western world can NEVER be compared to India in terms of sharing waters.

This sharing of water 565 tmc to TN and 175 tmc to KA depends on the usage for agriculture my friend... we should understand that more of agricutlutre land you have the more water you need... this is what TN's stance is..after all most of the cauvery water goes into the sea..huh
