Our nationalistic leader sudarshan uses Sikh slogans during shakahs.This proves Sikhs are very much part of Hindu heritage.Some Muzzies are trying to split this brotherhood. Hinduism is the mother of sikhism!!!

sikhism is a distinct religion. it takes it's tenets from hinduism , buddhism as well as Islam.

Sikhism took birth to protect hinduism from the Mughal conversions.
But Today Hinduism is like the big mountain which is divided into small hills in diff. names in the name of caste and other break ups.
the so called hindu leaders and the BJP who is protraying itself as savior of HINDUISM, must understand the importance of all castes of Hinduism to unite together.

sikhism actually was born from the sufi movement...not to protect hinduism but to do away with the evils of it such as dowry , caste , idol worship etc...
the sikhs who you are portraying as the saviours of the hindus were actually khalsa force of guru gobind singh...and were just one category of sikhs.

You are right except that there was nothing like separate name or distinct identity to do away with social evils.That was just like various other sects of Hinduism during Bhakti Andolan of 14/15th century onwards.
Separate identity was introduced by Guru Gobind Singh ji on 13-04-1699 which actually and practically was a military wing to take up weapons against opressors.
