Instead of appeasing terrorists and Naxalites, the government needs to launch an all out offensive against them. There is no reason why the Naxal menace can't be destroyed in 6 months.

Well said Murali i belive that instaed of launching offensive method they need to be given anmanesty and ask them to surrender and they will be allowed to live free live hereafter. As they are aslo humans just some meschief mongers have brainwashed them either he is from kashmir or any part we need to know the root cause of terrssiom and the govt has to look after cause or else it will never end.

The root cause of Naxalism is the under-development of certain sections of society. Although this definitely should be rectified, this will take years to redress. Today, the Naxalite movement is run by corrupt and greedy people. Look at the way they senselessly kill policemen and destroy so many families. The Naxal movement needs to be eliminated, but special care must be taken to improve the lives of tribals and impoverished villagers.

Like what, Murali, subscribing to their "ideals" and distribute your hard-earned wealth to poor villagers, thus extinguishing their motivation to educate themselves and grow up the economic ladder?
The economy has been opened up for the last 16 years only. The trickle down effect of this opening up will take at least 20-25 years for it to be felt in the hinterland. We were willing to be patient enough with useless socialism for 44 years. We need to be patient and let the government (pressurize them, if need be) build the infrastructure so that people can have access to better facilities and thus reap economic benefits....
Terrorism of whatever kind has to be met with similar token. No half measures, no gandhigiri works with such bigoted nincompoops.

Hello Natasha, the govt under a lady tried that with Naxals in the emergency era. Then again naxalism revived itself. The root cause is not that certain sections in society were underdeveloped but because they were systematically deprived of the resources and then their resources were taken away by the corrupt and greedy of both feudal and corporate India by using every legal and illegal force with them. Hence this revives. Today naxalism talks the language of their arch enemies in terms of extortion and murders. The problem lies with the way the current rulers are handling the situation. The root cause remains active all the time so it will come back. Take a situation - While we are happy at the message board today debating, even rivers in MP are getting privatized. It means people just cant take river water anymore. Legal laws are in place to help such activities in the name of development. While we educated may pay water tax and get the water, where do the people go whose life depended on the river water? Do you think they want to buy water and get bullets instead? If this kind of attitude will not breed naxalism what will? FYI I do not justify naxalism ut just stating that our system's actiosn are perpetuating this.
