The so called secular parties call BJP communal. It is quite confusing. The word communal comes from "community". Any political party who urges a community to vote for itself is undemocratic as the essence of democracy is individual choosing their representatives. Going by this logic which can not be faulted, the political parties who solicit support in the name of caste, tribe, region also should be considered to be communal. This because caste, tribe and region are used by such parties for defining identities. If this be considered permissible then why should it impermissible for defining identities in the name of religion? This is not mean that I support soliciting votes in the name of religion. On the other hand I consider it a wrong practice and undemocratic. But I do not understand why soliciting votes by defining identities on the basis of caste, tribe, region and similar attributes should not be considered to be communal? Will some enlightened person/some student of political science explain this to me.

What a logic. It is bad if any party divide society by religion BUT It is very good and media do deep analysis when parties divide the society into caste. It is fashionable and called social engineering. IDIOTS.
