Can you tell me?
by Dheeraj Akula on Dec 27, 2007 05:01 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

There was a famous quote about Christian missionaries.

He was a President of some African country, such as Kenya.

I don't remember the exact quote. It is something like this:

When they (Christian missionaries) came, we had our land and they hand bible in their hands. They asked us to close our eyes and pray to God. When we opened our eyes, they had our land and we had bible in our hands.

Can anyone tell me who said this and what the exact quote was?

Yes, I found it (in Google, as usual).

Nobel Prize winner, Mr. Desmond Tutu said:

They came to our country and handed us the bible, asked to close our eyes and pray together, and when we opened our eyes they had taken our land, and we stood with there with the bible in our hands

Unfortunately, Desmond Tutu continues to hold on to the Bible! So much for their brain power! The missionaries abused them because these were innocent, uneducated tribals.

None of the African governments have shown courage to stop this, because they are depending on trade and aid with Christian countries.
