Modi's Victory
by A Singh on Dec 24, 2007 03:11 PM   Permalink

Secularists are finding it very difficult to digest this result, and are trying to tell people how they have ben right, despite their comprehensive defeat. People are even blaming Madamme Sonia's "Maut Ke Saudagar" remark for the defeat, though our friends from Congress would like to tell us that she is an angel and can do no wrong. The fact is, that Modi has won the elections rather than Congress losing it. It is a positive vote for a positive performance.
Modi has done what is expected of a State's Chief Minister, and this fact has been acknowledged by Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and RBI. Even if Sonia had not uttered the now famous "Maut Ke Saudagar", her previous two remarks; "Jhoothe" and "Be-iman" would have been enough for the people to realise that they were being taken for a ride. Denying development in Gujarat was a poor strategy.
Modi has also remained true to the BJP agenda, and for this, he had to make many enemies. Other BJP Governments in other states and centre have not had the guts to follow party's declared and percieved agenda, at their own peril. Modi has emerged as a person, who does what he says, and says what he does.
And what can one say about Rahul Baba! He has to learn some more tricks apart from waving his palm.
