Keeping the Elections and the results aside, I begin to wonder, What is media upto.
Is Indian media especially the English media becoming a political power unto itself. They are getting more and more judgmental, biased and corny.
If one takes the case of Gujarat elections, the english media went to town maligning Modi on a very personal basis, and portraying Ms Sonia benevolence, including this article.
"Sonia Gandhi's speechwriters should be sacked for clumsy political writing" this line sums it up for me. I thought, in all my naivety, leaders were the one to provide vision and their speech prepare texts accordingly, if Ms Gandhi depends on the speechwriter provides the vision and inputs, then I am worried that we as a nation are in the wrong hands.
That apart, I was cringing as I was watching the results on various English channels, the way the news anchors were spewing acrimonious and sarcastic barbs on the panelists especially those from the BJP.
Mr. Arnab Goswami, was looking at his corny best when he couldnt resist making apparently personal remarks about Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad and Mr. Prakash Javadekar of them being very aggressive responses in the face of loaded and biased questioning by Mr. Goswami, he added that you guys werent as aggressive when the results of Uttaranchal were out.
I thought Media was an independent entity and would report and analyse news for common people, but we see an emergence of opinionated and judgmental coverage.
Look at Sheela Bhatt --- she is expecting Sonia's speech writers to be sacked while Sonia continue to give the posture of "Mary Blessing".
While Modi has to take so many sermons from everybody just because he has won, while Congress is let away with milder warnings that they have to work hard bla bla...

Well said! The media credibility is at stake - if as Sheela admits, the stories were planted by Congress.
They should atleast put a byline, story or exit poll sponsored by Congress! Or, Congress has paid us to tamper this story - for example, Satta market quote in yesterday morning bulletins?

They have lost credibility long back. No one watches news channel to "believe" story. People just consume the story and make their own interpretations. They just dont even listen to these craps from the so called experts lined by the media show-rooms!

The issue is who will expose them, what will bring accountability. I for one am against regulatory over media, but the media itself should have a strong ombudsman to censure and rein in these opinionated news STARS.
